After careful consideration and discussion with nurses, social workers and family members, volunteers have decided that the following children will be the recipients of collected 'Lax Out Cancer' funds:
Each of these children have been diagnosed with cancer and their illnesses are aggressive. These families are also in severe financial need. It was remarked that people are not sure how one particular family puts food on their table each day. Many of these children have experienced relapses, multiple surgeries, and travel several times a week to NYC. It is more important than EVER to get out and continue to raise money. Each of these children's stories are so touching. They really need our help! Please stop for five minutes and reach out to someone, walk over to the neighbor's house, phone a friend....spread the word.
Shoreham, NY - April 26th, 2014 , 12:00 noon Shoreham-Wading River High School
The New York Lizards are excited to announce they will be attending Shoreham’s sixth annual Lax Out Cancer event on April 26th. The event will be held at Shoreham-Wading River High School where two games will take place; the girls’ varsity lacrosse game at noon and the boys’ varsity lacrosse game versus Mt. Sinai at 2:30 PM. The Lizards will have players signing autographs throughout the games.
“It is such an honor for me and the NY lizards to be part of such a great day at SWR,” said Lizards Head Coach Joe Spallina. “To be part of a group raising money to help those being affected by cancer is truly an honor for the entire organization. Cancer has hit all of us in some way and has truly motivated all of us to put an end to it. I want to thank the Shoreham Wading River community for including us in their 'Lax Out Cancer' event.”
Justin Arini, the head coach of SWR Varsity Lacrosse said; "I am tremendously excited to learn the NY Lizards will be joining our efforts at 'Lax Out Cancer' on April 26th. Not only do the Lizards epitomize hard work, dedication, and perseverance, but they have also been the home for a number of SWR lacrosse alums. I know having the Lizards at this great event will make for a terrific experience for our youth players."
In addition to signing autographs, the Lizards will further support the event by donating a portion of tickets purchased using the promo code “LOC” back to Lax Out Cancer. Tickets will be for the Lizards game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks game on Sunday, July 27th at Stony Brook University at 3 PM.
